Thanks to everyone who made this year's Gala an amazing success! We had an incredible afternoon and evening that was a real family and community occasion. The weather was the best it's been in the last couple of years which really helped.
Last week's COPS Inter-School swimming event was very successful for our team. We had 24 x 1st places, 20 x 2nd places and 14 x 3rd places across the day. We were also victorious in the 4 x length mixed relay team and 4 x length relay against parents which was an extremely close finish between Kyla and Bronwyn Philip, with Kyla pipping mum at the finish line! Here is a link to watch the student relay race. Full results, with highlighted placings are below.
We are experiencing a lot of sickness among staff and students at the moment. Can we please ask that students don't come to school if the are showing clear signs of illness as we are seeing a lot of students heading home during the day.
Parent - Teacher interviews are on next Monday and Tuesday afternoon. Please book a slot to come in and see how your child is settling in and what they're working on in class. You can book your time online, more information follows in the newsletter. Please call Jody in the office if you are experiencing trouble registering.
Last week was our first Lion's Reach Award held at the Harvest Rock Climbing Centre. Our school councillors attended the first event of the year. It was great seeing the level of confidence being demonstrated throughout the session. With the potential for 100 senior students taking part in the Reach Awards every year we have established a new challenge that will last the entire year. The challenge is to be the quickest person to get to the top of the self belaying climb. Kyla Philip is the current record holder, making the climb in 12.77 seconds. I'm currently in 2nd place on 15.97 seconds and Ryder van der Heyden is in 3rd with 16 .97 seconds. It'll be interesting to see how the middle syndicate students get on next week!
