The Talent Quest was very entertaining last week. The big winners on the day were Rajesh singing, Georgia, Hannah and Leah dancing and Kyla and Meili performing a duet on the piano which stunned the crowd. Congratulations to all of the students who put in a lot of effort and showed courage in performing to such a large crowd. We would like to say a big thanks to Mel, Fiona and George who were the judges for the event plus our school whānau who came along and supported everyone as well as the two groups of students from the College who also performed and showcased some of their talents with a duet and a dance - ngā mihi nui!
Last week I took the senior Lion's Reach Award recipients down to the Harvest Rock Centre. It was great seeing the level of determination and effort that the group showed especially when they tried to get the fastest time on the speed wall. Skyla Withers absolutely tried her hardest to be the quickest up the wall and take top spot honour but she had to settle with the second fastest time of the year with 17.09 seconds.
Please remember that tomorrow is our school photos day for classes, individuals and siblings. Please ring the office if you have any questions.
The end of the term is approaching quickly with just over 3 weeks to go! We will be finishing the term off a sad note as we say goodbye to our amazing caretaker Mr N who is retiring after nearly 10 years in the job. We will be saying farewell at our end of term Pen Assembly. His level of dedication and care shown towards our students, staff and school community has been amazing.
On Monday we will welcome back Nicky and Harold the Giraffe from Life Ed. They will be with us until the remainder of the term supporting our health curriculum. Please make contact with your child's teacher if you have any queries about the programmes being delivered.
Ngā mihi,
Scott Lincoln Principal Ōtorohanga South School
