Kia ora koutou. 

We are a full week down and it's great to see our students have quickly settled into their new classrooms and are enjoying being back at school. Swimming instruction is well underway with lots of students bringing their togs to school each day.

We have our annual Gala Day on Friday 10th March, this year's proceeds will go towards playground upgrades. We rely heavily on parent support to make Gala successful so please feel free to attend our first meeting next Wednesday (15th) at 3:30 in the staffroom. We will once again be holding our Monster Garage Sale, where we ask for donated items in good working order to sell - it's a perfect opportunity to clear out the cupboards and the shed. We will also be holding food stalls, rides and activities and grocery and cash raffles. We will provide dates, times and details for donated goods, drop-offs and raffle information after next week's meeting. 

We will be holding parent - teacher interviews on Monday 20th - Tuesday 21st March. Booking information will come out closer to the time.

Our first few weeks back at school focus on building strong relationships - Whakawhanaungatanga. We want to get to know each other - staff, students and whānau. We know that strong relationships are the foundation for great learning to occur, which is why it’s so important that we work together (“Mahi Tahi”) for the benefit of our tamariki. 

We always refer back to our KETE values at Ōtorohanga South School and look at ways we can use these in a variety of settings. In the coming weeks we will be sharing what these values look like across the school, so that you are able to have conversations with your tamariki about the ways in which they display them beyond the school context.

Headlice checks will be carried out next week. Please check your child/ren for signs of eggs and/or lice and treat immediately. Chemical treatment is available from the public health nurses and your child's doctor for free.

The Scholastic Book Club magazine went out to students on Tuesday. Final orders are due in on Friday 17th February.
