Today we have a group of middle syndicate students heading down to the Harvest Rock Centre to take part in rock climbing. This is a recognition reward for having a great start to the term.

If you are needing to drop something off or need to collect your child between 9:00 and 2:55 please come to the school office and our admin team will help you out. Please don't go directly to the classrooms.

We have our structured literacy whanau literacy evening happening next Wednesday for parents of students in Yr 1-2. Booking and additional information can be found in this newsletter.

Our values focus for the next few weeks is Kindness.

Our school-wide values are explicitly taught in all our classrooms and across a variety of settings.

These value lessons are also supported by our school councillors sharing messages and role-playing at assemblies, as well as value reminders over the school intercom each morning during our daily notices.

This is how we display kindness in one of our school settings:

Bucket-filling is a term used to refer to positive attitudes and behaviour.

It relies on the analogy that every person carries with them an invisible bucket. 

This bucket contains a person's feelings and emotions. 

When the bucket is full, this represents us feeling happy and contented. 

However, when it is empty, we feel low, upset and dissatisfied. 

Bucket-fillers are those who act in a way that fills another person's bucket and refers to those who practise kindness and good behaviour.

The analogy comes from the book How Full Is Your Bucket? by Tom Rath and Donald O. Clifton.

Registrations for soccer and netball must be in by Monday 27 March. 

SOCCER
The U10 team is in need of a coach. If we cannot find a coach we will not be able to enter the team.
Please respond to this survey to register your child for soccer.
We are aware that some families have had difficulty in registering on the MyComet site. These issues will be shared with NCKJF.

NETBALL
It is most important that all players are registered by Monday 27 March. This information is needed at the Otorohanga Netball Centre AGM being held that evening. 
 Please  respond to this survey to register for netball.

If you can't access the online registration forms please contact the school office. Parent support is crucial for students and teams to take part.

UMPIRE COUCHING

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in giving umpiring a go and a place for coaches and
managers to get clued up on rules. All ages are welcome. Angela Telfer will be running the day. She is a retired NZ Umpire, NZ Umpire Coach, Umpire Coach developer and Otorohanga’s Netball Centre's umpire coordinator.

Ikura|Manaakitia te whare tangata is an initiative set up by the Ministry of Education to provide free period products in all state schools across New Zealand.  The main aims of this scheme are to support whānau with the rising cost of living and to make a positive impact on student wellbeing. If you would like to opt into the scheme, please contact the school office. 

 

Many families now choose to spread the cost of the Technology fee as well as the Middle and Senior Syndicate Camps over many months by making small, regular payments to the school bank account via internet banking. These costs will be applied to your child's account early in the year and emailed to you so that you have all of the information on hand. The camp cost is not due until later in the year, but you are welcome to start making payments at any time. If you choose to take up this option, please use your child's name as a reference.
