Last Friday we celebrated all of our students who reached tier 2 in our KETE awards with a breakfast. They really enjoyed being served by their teachers. Some students are well on their way to reaching their tier 3 award - we are looking forward to celebrating the milestone with them at some stage.
Thanks to all of the parents and family members who came along for parent-teacher interviews this week. If you missed out and have some questions - please make contact with your child's teacher directly via their email address or alternatively contact the school office for support.
Cross country training is well underway. We will be holding our school cross country on Friday the 11th of August. We will confirm times closer to the date, but you can plan for Junior (yr 1 - 4) races before lunch and Senior ( yr 5 - 8) races in the afternoon.
Please note that we will be holding another teacher only day on Monday the 13th November as part of the Ministry of Education's roll-out of the new curriculum. We will keep reminding you of this.

Our School Values - KETE
Our values focus for the first half of this term is Engaged. Our school-wide values are explicitly taught in all our classrooms and across a variety of settings. These value lessons are also supported by our school councillors sharing messages and role-playing at assemblies, as well as value reminders over the school intercom each morning during our daily notices.Below is an example of our school-wide expectations of Engaged in one of our settings. Being engaged means that we are actively involved and enthusiastic about our learning.
We are engaged when we are:
Interested and participate in all activities
Ask questions and contribute our thoughts and ideas
Set goals and celebrate our progress
Are focused and motivated to learn
We can also show that we are engaged when we work as part of a team.
Room 13 Creations
The creative juices have been flowing in Room 13 lately! The students enjoyed weaving Matariki stars as part of a unit on Matariki and made tukutuku panels, as part of a craft programme. Ford also loves to spend time working with playdough and tinfoil.

Ikura - Free Period Products
Ikura|Manaakitia te whare tangata is an initiative set up by the Ministry of Education to provide free period products in all state schools across New Zealand. The main aims of this scheme are to support whānau with the rising cost of living and to make a positive impact on student wellbeing. If you would like to opt into the scheme, please contact the school office.
CAMP & TECHNOLOGY PAYMENTS
Many families now choose to spread the cost of the Technology fee as well as the Middle and Senior Syndicate Camps over many months by making small, regular payments to the school bank account via internet banking. These costs will be applied to your child's account early in the year and emailed to you so that you have all of the information on hand. The camp cost is not due until later in the year, but you are welcome to start making payments at any time. If you choose to take up this option, please use your child's name as a reference.
