Last week's Talent Quest Gala was a huge success. Congratulations to all of the students who entered it, we were so impressed with the confidence they showed as we know performing in front of 300+ students and adults would have been daunting. A big thanks to Mel, Jazz and Terri who were our judges for the event, we really appreciated them taking the time out of the day to come along and support us!

We had a good turn out at parent interviews this week. Please make contact with your child's teacher if you missed out and would like to know how well your child is progressing.

We have finally got to the point where Jibbitz charms have become too much of a headache for students, staff and parents and we don't want to see them coming to school anymore. They are another unwanted distraction that takes us away from doing our primary job of teaching. Please ask your child to remove their Jibbitz from their footwear and leave them at home.

Have a happy Easter, stay safe and we'll see everyone back next Wednesday.
 
BOT News: A casual vacancy has occurred on the school board for an elected parent representative. The board has decided to fill the vacancy by selection. If 10% or more of eligible voters on the school roll ask the board, within 28 days of this notice being published, to hold a by-election to fill the vacancy, then a by-election will be held. Request for a by-election should be sent to: Sandy Rattray (election officer) admin@otosouth.school.nz by the 3rd April.

Our values focus for the next few weeks is Effort.

Our school-wide values are explicitly taught in all our classrooms and across various settings. These value lessons are also supported by our school councillors sharing messages and role-playing at assemblies, as well as value reminders over the school intercom each morning during our daily notices.

Below is an example of our school-wide expectations of Effort in one of our settings.

Congratulations to our tamariki who received Tier 1 KETE certificates at last week's Junior and Senior assemblies.

We also had the opportunity to celebrate the first of our Bronze Tier 1 KETE recipients. These students have already received their Tier 1,2, and 3 awards and have now reached Bronze level - what an outstanding achievement! Ka Rawe!

Many of the classes have enjoyed crafting Easter projects. The staff of OSS were also surprised with an Easter treat.

The teams have been finalised and parents/caregivers will be emailed this afternoon with your child's team information.

Starting Dates for Otorohanga Netball:

This netball programme involves a skill based session with a small sided game to follow for years 3-4  in order to have this sporting opportunity parents/caregivers are required to run this programme.  (uniforms will not be issued to these players) 

This netball programme play the normal 7 on 7 version of the game.  Uniforms will only be issued to those students who have paid fees. 

Remember it is not possible for us to have a successful season without your help. We need coaches, managers, umpires in order for our students to have this opportunity.
