Principal's Desk
Kia ora koutou.
We are holding our two farewell events today for Mrs Dampney. We will share photos from the events in next week's newsletter. We would like to say a big thanks to all of the students who have taken part in making the decorations and made the hall look amazing!
On behalf of Ngā Awa ki te Moana (wider Otorohanga district schools) - we are hosting a parents cyber safety evening on Wednesday 6th November from 6:30 - 8:30pm. We want our school and our community to be a safe place for all children. Our tamariki are growing up in rapidly changing times, and the risk, frequency and severity of online harm is increasing. We need to tackle this as a community. This is why Ngā Awa ki te Moana have organised filmmaker, author and speaker, Rob Cope, producer of the documentary "Our Kids Online" to come and give what promises to be a humorous and eye-opening evening talk to our parent community. It is totally free to attend and is intended for adults only. Please take time to watch this very short video that Rob has put together and register to attend the event. The registration form identifies the content of the evening and some solutions that Rob will talk about to support your child, now and into the future. Light refreshments will be provided.
Pets Day was a huge success. Thanks to Claire and the organising committee for putting on another great event once again. Well done to all of the students - you could really see the effort they had put into their training and caring of their animals.
The Targa Rally is happening on Friday 25th October. It will be definitely having an impact on school buses for the Honikiwi and Waitomo Valley/Haurua Rd bus routes. The Honikiwi service will not be running in the afternoon and the Haurua Rd bus will not be able to run in the morning.
Yesterday I took a group of senior students sailing at Lake Ngaroto. Thanks to the Sailability team for providing us with the opportunity to share a different experience with our students. The wind wasn't the strongest but all of the students enjoyed the event regardless. We look forward to going along next year. Thanks to Nikki, Seaton and Andrea for providing transport.

We still have excess desks that are free to a good home. They would suit students who are in Yrs 5 - 8. Please contact the school office and we'll put them aside for you.
Lost property: We have a mountain of lost property located under the covered walkway on the Junior side of the school. Please come and take a look and see if you can claim some of the items.
Teacher Only Day - Tuesday 29th October: We are holding our next curriculum refresh teacher only day on Tuesday 29th which is the day after Labour Day. School will be closed!
