Well done to all of our students who took part in the Inter-School Orienteering at Aria last Friday. They braved the wet and windy conditions and showed perseverance and effort to gain some excellent results. Congratulations to our Year 7/8 team of Cruz, Luca, Kyla, Jeremiah, Tanna and Ryder who were placed 1st in the teams division. Our Year 5/6 A team of Millie, Archie, Easton, Brian, Caleb and Summah were placed 3rd and our Year 4 team of Lockey, Ryder, Rome, Hugo, Dre and Evan were placed 3rd overall in their first year of competing. We had some excellent individual results too with Kyla Phillip placed 1st (31 mins) and Renae Reeve placed 2nd (32 mins) in the Year 7/8 girls division and Logan Hartman-Wade (25 mins) was placed 4th in the Yr 7/8 boys division.
Today we are celebrating our latest students who have reached Tier 2 in our KETE awards. We will hold their waffle breakfast in the hall next Tuesday morning from 8:15 to 8:50am.
Next Tuesday we have a team of College students and Diane (their teacher) coming along to help the middle syndicate with their internal organ exploration in the hall. It will be a highly engaging lesson for each class.
Next Wednesday the middle syndicate are having a Matariki feast, thanks to everyone who has donated kai to support this. We also have a team of Yr 5/6 boys heading off Mt Maunganui to take part in the Chiefs Tackle 5 competition. Go hard boys, I'm looking forward to the day!
Please note we have our staff only day next Thursday. Please enjoy the long weekend with your family and take care on the roads.

Our School Values - KETE
Our values focus for the next few weeks is Engaged.
Our school-wide values are explicitly taught in all our classrooms and across various settings. These value lessons are also supported by our school councillors sharing messages and role-playing at assemblies, as well as value reminders over the school intercom each morning during our daily notices.
Below is an example of our school-wide expectations of Engaged in one of our settings.
Congrats to our tamariki who received either a K, E, T, E (Tier 1) certificate at last week's Junior and Senior Assemblies.

King Country Tackle 5s Festival
On Wednesday last week an awesome bunch of Y5/6 students went to Te Kuiti to participate in the King Country Tackle 5s Festival. We had two boys teams and one girls team entered in the tournament. They had been training for weeks prior with Abby Keech from the North King Country Junior Rugby Association. The focus was on learning how to tackle and brushing up on their skills. Our Boys A team finished the pool play top of their table but unfortunately lost their semi to Otewa. A hard but good game. Boys B and our girls team had a couple of wins and some were not in their favour. They all enjoyed their day playing rugby! We received the news that our A boys qualify for the wider Waikato/Bay of Plenty Tackle 5s tournament that is held next week in Tauranga. We are proud of them and wish them good luck!
