We are at the end of the term and it's probably been the sunniest start to the year we've had in a long time. Our students have absolutely loved it as it's provided them with plenty of opportunities to enjoy it. We have so many active students. Everyday I can see them fully engaged in physical activity in one form or another which is great to see.
Some of the highlights we are looking forward to next term include: Harold and Nicky from Life Education visiting us, COPS winter sports for Year 3 - 8 students, Aria Orienteering, Senior trip to Kelly Tarlton's, Middle trip to Waitomo Caves and Matariki celebrations and Talent Quest. We will keep you up to date with all of these events as time gets closer.
On Tuesday we had Ross O'Halloran and Mike Smith from the RSA come in and talk to the Upper and Middle syndicate students -supporting their ANZAC studies. Mike shared interesting information with everyone as he talked about his role as a chef in the NZ Navy which provided everyone with a greater insight into the varied roles members of the New Zealand defense forces have.
Pen Assembly and KETE tier 3 award presentation are tomorrow. Please feel free to come along and join in on our celebration, it starts at 11:15am.
We hope everyone has an enjoyable break with their families, please support your children to stay safe on the roads and we will see you all back on Monday the 28th of April.
Ngā mihi,

Our School Values - KETE
Our value focus for the week is Effort.
Our school-wide values are explicitly taught in all our classrooms and across various settings. These value lessons are also supported by our school councillors sharing messages and role-playing at assemblies, as well as value reminders over the school intercom each morning during our daily notices.Having a growth mindset is vital when putting in maximum effort into activities that can be challenging. Below are some examples of growth mindset statements.
We uphold the values in all areas of school. Here are the expectations of what Effort looks like in assemblies.
Room 15 Kiwihouse Trip
Room 15 showed their curiosity by searching through the enclosures. They saw five tuatara, two kiwi and some very big eels!

Dental Team
The Dental team is all smiles as they carry out check-ups for the students. With gentle care and friendly faces, they work to make the experience enjoyable for everyone, helping to ensure healthy teeth and happy kids!
They will be open Monday to Thursday of the first week of the school holidays and welcome preschool aged children to come in for a check-up. It’s never too early to start good dental habits, and the team is always happy to meet little ones and make their first visit fun and stress-free.
To book a check-up for your preschooler or for more information, call 021356384. Let’s keep those smiles shining! 😁🦷✨
