Principal's Desk
Kia ora koutou.
Today our junior school are completing their Jumping for June event. A lot of families have supported this event and given so generously to the Heart Foundation as part of it - thank you! Skipping is a great way to build up co-ordination and fitness and the students really enjoy getting out and about practising their skills.
This week we have been celebrating Matariki, one aspect involves the sharing of kai, yesterday we had the lower juniors sharing sausage rolls and today we have the middle syndicate cooking up pots of soup to share. Thanks to all of the families for donating the ingredients for this. We have also been singing waiata and completing art to mark the special event.
Tomorrow is the last day of term 2. Pen Assembly starts at 11:15am. As usual we will be celebrating our students who are putting in extra effort into their learning as well as celebrating our students who have reached tier 2 of our KETE awards. Please feel free to come along and support our tamariki and enjoy a couple of waiata with us.
We will be handing out mid-year school reports at the end of the day. Please take a look at the school attendance on the back cover of your child's report. We are concerned with the number of students who have large amounts of un-justified absence so far this year. Student achievement and under-achievement can be linked directly to attendance, a figure of 20% absence is the same as having 1 day off a week which adds up to lots of lost learning over time.
Looking ahead to next term we have parent - teacher interviews in week 2, cross country, disco and it's also the time to start rearing animals for pets day in term 4.
Ngā mihi, stay safe and enjoy the break.
