On behalf of all of the students I would like to say thanks to everyone who came along and supported them at our school or at COPS cross country yesterday. Here is a link to the photos from out on the course yesterday -
COPS Cross Country link to photos. Well done to everyone who participated and ran their hardest, as always the event brings out the best in students as the try to better themselves. Top three results at COPS yesterday ... Yr 1/2 = Ty Wild - 3rd, Cohen Gilbert - 3rd. Yr 3/4 = Milla Fenton - 2nd, Archie Mouat 1st, Lockey Poa Dampney - 3rd. Yr 5/6 Summah Poa Dampney - 3rd, Ryder Van der Heyden - 1st. Yr 7/8 = Parekaihina Prezton - 1st, Emma Clarke - 2nd, Emily Xu - 3rd, Jordy Millin - 2nd.
This week we announced our first three students to reach tier 3 of our KETE awards. Congratulations Renae Reeve, Milla Takao and Ayla Hetet-Jacob, you are great role models. We will officially acknowledge them at the next Pen Assembly.
Last Thursday we held a technology challenge for the seniors. They were placed in teams of six and were given three challenges to complete. The first one was to make 3D Matariki stars, then label and correctly position them according to compass directions on the hall wall. The second challenge required them to build a light tower that was 1.5m tall and could emit and reflect light - all done without a ruler. The last challenge was the hardest. It involved building a double hulled waka that could fit two students, it had to have a mast and sail as well as a set of paddles for the two students who were to sail it for them. Our students were highly engaged throughout the session - a special thanks to Sheena Neilson who made the newspaper available for us to use.
Pets Day is on Friday the 13th of October - week 1 of term 4. Please use this form to make your pets day entries. You can revisit the form to make additional entries for your household. Pets Day diaries and owner consent forms will be sent home with all registered students.
